Be Pandemic Prepared: Protecting Our Community and Health Care Staff (Healthcare Sector)
After SARS and 9/11, health care organizations face greater challenges to prepare for emergencies. An emergency management plan considers many aspects of an organization's day-to-day operation. If similar to the Spanish Flu of 1918-19, the next pandemic targets those between the ages of 20 to 40 years of age, employers could see an absentee rate of 35 percent or higher. Staff may be ill themselves or be absent caring or grieving for loved ones.
